A Message from Superintendent Greg Baker

On behalf of our students, School Board and all staff in Bellingham Public Schools, I want to extend a big thank you to our Bellingham community, which has voted to renew both of our expiring levies. The first levy funds nearly 25 percent of our daily budget and the second supports technology. Both are essential for our educational program and student learning, especially as we anticipate more state budget cuts yet again this spring.

We are extremely grateful to our Bellingham voters. As of 8:15 p.m. Feb. 14, 2012, our main levy for our educational program is currently passing by 68.5 percent and our technology levy is receiving 67.4 percent support. The Whatcom County auditor will post updates on its website at http://wei.secstate.wa.gov/whatcom/Pages/default.aspx as more votes are counted.

I thank each of you and the many volunteers who generously gave time and resources to support this levy election. A special thank you to our volunteer Citizens’ Advisory Committee as well as all of the parent, community and staff volunteers for their leadership and support with voter outreach and education.
