Welcome to Cordata Library!

Hi!  I’m Ms. Feemster and I am your child’s Library Media Specialist.  Your child’s class will visit the library once a week for a lesson and to checkout books.  Depending on your child’s grade level, Library/Technology lessons may include literacy instruction  accompanied with a short activity, book talks or recommendations, training in acceptable use of the District network , internet resources,  research strategies and resources, copyright law and location skills-how to find things in the library, author studies, genre studies, plus much, much more!

Kids are expected to bring their books with them every week on their library day.  They may either return their books or renew them (check them out again.) They may check out new books when their books are returned. Kindergarteners and first graders check out one book.  Students in grades 2-5 may check out 2 books.  Additional books may be checked out on a case by case basis if needed for special classroom projects or school breaks.  Books are always due one week from the checkout date, however, we have open library times in our schedule and kids are welcome to visit the library during those times to exchange their books with teacher permission.

In the event that your child’s book is lost (a book is considered lost when it is 30 days overdue) or damaged beyond repair, we ask families to cover replacement costs.  Kids may continue to check out a book, but will need to keep it at school until their fine is paid. If there are any extenuating circumstances, please let me know.

Parents are strongly encouraged to open a library account.  If your schedule permits, please consider volunteering in the library.  There is always plenty to do!

I look forward to working with your child!  Please feel free to contact me at 360.676-6470 x2571
